Yamn Summer Tour Leg 2

Hello Friends :)

It has been a little while now since my last blog. The end of last tour went well and we had a good time in Arcata, San Fran and Flagstaff. We actually got pulled over for the first time between Arcata and San Fran for driving a yellow bus. Apparently not legal in every state. So Now the bus is hunter green (bottom) and white (top) which actually matches our license plate. And remodeled the storage area to fit some more lights. Also a good thing :)

While we where back in Colorado we played a 2
night mountain run. First in Salida late night for the FibARK Music Festival. It was a really fun night and we got to catch up with some good friends from up there. Joey Porter (Motet, Juno What?) sat in on a song it it was pretty amazing. The next night we played Late night after the Telluride Bluegrass Festival. Another really fun show. We met up with some old friends from Texas who where hanging out and had a great night catching up. Our buddy Brian Erdner came with us for the weekend to help out with setup and teardown (as he often does) and my favorite memory is our 9am gondola ride to the top of the mountain for some sight seeing. Awesome view!

Then after a couple more weeks off we headed back out for the second leg of tour. First stop Salt Lake City. We had a good time with our friends there. Thank you Maya for the excellent dinner and the good vibes. We had a blast with your whole crew. The Urban Lounge is a really cool venue that is the perfect size for my touring lighting rig. You all know how that makes me smile :)

Next day we drove to Boise to play with our good friends Equaleyes. We have known the guys for years and whenever we get to play together it is guranteed to be a good time. This was no exception. Then venue owner was really cool and we had a great turn out. Thanks Boise peeps! Once again we stayed with our buddy Seth Brown who cooked us late night impromptu spinach bacon shrimp wraps! You Rock Seth!

Next morning we headed to Lolo Hot springs for the Manifest. We got there in time to catch our friends from Miller Creek for their set and after a pretty entertaining art auction Yamn played a great 2 hour set. the sound guy did a great job and our Missoula friends made it a show to remember. After the show we wandered to the late night tents. Pretty silly scene over there but it was entertaining to say the least. If you ever wondered, guys dancing to electronic music naked on stage is not pretty. Anyhow. We spent the next day with our friends Tom and Emily in Missoula. Tom is the bass player for Miller Creek and was running the lights on the main stage all weekend. They did us up right with an awesome BarBQ, showers and a day relaxing watching movies. Thank you so much guys... We needed that. We are coming back to Missoula to play Tom and Emily's wedding this Saturday :)

Today is the 4th of July and we are on a 11 hour drive to Bellingham WA. We don't play there there until tomorrow so until then...on the road we remain. I hope you all have a great 4th of July! Be safe, spend it with those you love, And don't forget how lucky we are to be Americans! Love!

Yamn Summer Tour 2011 Part2

Well hello again friends!
A couple of shows have past but here is a quick catchup-

Had a really fun show in Boise. Really high energy thanks to all the promotion effort of our friend Seth Brown. And got to hang out with some great friends and had a really fun show.

The next mourning we had a beautiful drive across Oregon to Bend. Played at a cool little brewery there. We had a very relaxing setup and played to a whole room of people that probably hadn't seen us before. Our buddy Gabe who books Juno What came out with some friends and we had a blast Then after the show an awesome random guy hooked us all up with free Chinese food and we all went to bed with full stomachs. Awesome!

The next mourning we woke up and drove up to Portland. We got to stop and kick it with our musical friends the Shook twins who we also spent last New-years with. We caught up with them for a while then rolled to the Mt Tabor Theater for setup. It was a good show. Some of you might have seen it because our buddy Jordan from Audio Globe streamed it live online (check it out at Audioglobe.com). Our friends Jesta (pronounced Yesta) opened the show and sounded great. The Mt Tabor is one of my favorite venues to run lights at on this NW tour and I personally had a really fun night.

We had to leave straight from the show to head to Bellingham WA for the Urban Music Festival. Bone killed it and drove all 6 hours there starting at like 3am. We had light load in at 11 that mourning because all the lights had to be up before music started on the outdoor stage for the day. We spent the rest of our day with some friends we had met at Mayan Holidaze and our friends Jesse, Kendra, Dan and Alicia and a bunch of others. The show went great and we had a great turnout! I would claim it as one of my best outdoor lightshows. Afterward we watched Acorn Projects set and then off to Barry with the and their whole crew......now let me preface by saying: Our good friend Chelsea made all of the Yamnily that went to Mayan Holidaze headresses to rock while we where in Mexico. Well this had such an impact on all of the Bellingham peeps that were there that when we got there they had all made their own headresses so the after party is a blur of colorful feathers, smiles, laughter, And Music. It was so far the funnest night of this tour for me....maybe even a little too much. T Bone and Jessica know what I mean:) All i can say is Don't swear in front of children at restaurants at 11am. Dan, Thanks for throwing the rager buddy! And finding my bag of dreams. Spent the next night at Jesse and Kendra's and got some much needed rest. Thanks for the hospitality guys :)

The next day we drove back to Portland and had a very lovely dinner with the Shook Twins. Then I met up with my old collage roomate Wirch and hung out for the night. The next day we all got togeather to watch the Mavs game. Good work guys. And we had a couple beers with Quamy for his birthday. 29 You old bro :)

Then this mourning we left Portland to drive to Crecent City CA to camp for the mourning. Almost hit a deer right past Eugene. Good dodge Quamy. And for now that's it. 3 more shows (Arcata, San Francisco, and Flagstaff AZ) and then back to the beautiful Colorado! You'll hear from me as we close this leg of tour out. Until then. Be good to yourselves and each other :)

First gig of Summer Tour 2011

Well hello there everybody out in Yamn Land! We all had a great time at our 4th Desert Rocks (as usual :). Great bands and had a great turnout for our set right after Chali 2na from Jurassic 5. Got to hang out with some friends from Equaleyes and MTHDS and I think we all had a fantastic time. Horrific wind storm Sunday. The green room almost blew over and had to be taken down and music was on side stages only because the main stage had to be closed for wind as well. We all spent the last two nights with our good friend Seth Brown in Boise. As of right now I'm done setting up lights tonight, Yamn is in the middle of sound check and the show starts in 45min. Ill let you all know tomorrow how it went as we drive to Bend, OR and I'll give you the Boise setlist. Until the......

Yamn's road to the Love Your Mother Earth Festival Lolo Hot Springs MT

So once again I am a little behind (sorry friends) but still feel it is important to document this awesome event!

After Summer Camp we had a week back home (actually only Neezer and I where home, everyone else went "Back home") and then departed to make our way to Love Your Mother in Missoula. We played 3 shows on the way the first of which being Tuesday at Terrapin Station in Boise ID. Our good friend Equaleyes opened for us that night and we all had a terrific time. We spent the night partying at Jeff from Equaleyes parents house. Now I get nervous every time we are going to any ones parents house cause...........well if you know what i look like you'd understand. Anyway i got to meet both of them in the next couple days and they also came up to Love your Mother. They are great people and a really good time to hang out with. Unbelievably hospitable as well. Anyway, we stayed in Boise and went to see an early evening Equaleyes set and then went out with those boys to see some more live music. Once again a really fun night.

Next day we headed off to Moscow ID to return to Johns Alley for the first time in over a year. It was a fun show and reunited us with Vertical Dave, one of the nicest sound guys you'll ever meet. It was actually his birthday and the funny thing was last time we where there we where telling everyone to buy him drinks for his birthday but it wasn't. On that recording from the last show there I'm pretty sure Bone claimed "Happy New Years" in May. Somewhat ironic.

Then on Friday we meet Equaleyes up in Sandpoint ID where we played two alternating sets: Yamn, Equalyes, Yamn and Equaleyes again. It gave the bands a great opportunity to plan what would come at Love Your Mother. Stoney is the guy who booked us for the show and what a guy he is! He set up a radio interview and was just awesome. We had a chance to party with him at Love Your Mother as well.

We left for Love Your Mother that night because I had to be at the Festy to set up my lights before music started that day at noon. After all the setup we had until about 11:30pm to chill so we just wandered the grounds, napped, watched music, and drank. When our set started there were about 500 people at the main stage. The set was great and the energy was electric! During 90 Trance 10 there was an aerial dancer hanging from the center beam at the top of stage. She did an amazing job, it was truly an amazing experience. Then at the end of Yamn's last song the members of Equaleyes came up slowly one by one. By the time the music stopped the members where completely changed out and Equaleyes was on the stage. A completely seamless transition. It was fantastic! After that the two bands and I tore our gear down and Dewey Proceeded to lead a moving dance party iPod dock all around the grounds. One of the best roving dance parties I have ever had the pleasure of being a part of. So much fun. People eventually faded and went to bed, but not me! I was trying to find which tent the alcohol vendors where in so i could wake their asses up. In my search I happened upon some locals selling home made wine for $7 a bottle. Now I am not much of a wine drinker but this was the best wine I've ever had in my life! Boysenberry/marrionberry, raspberry/boysenberry, and my favorite......Blueberry/Plum.....MMMMMMM! I was walking around to everyone getting coffee and breakfast and giving out samples of my new favorite drink. It was pretty obvious to everyone i was having a pretty good time :) Anyhow that's my last memory. Apparently i disappeared for about 4 hours and eventually while everyone was watching the Shook Twins some one saw me go in the bus and go to bed. I woke up on the road as we all took turns driving home (minus Quamy, his uncle picked him up on his way to his brother's wedding in Canada). A fun time and thanks to everyone. Anyhow, that's my story and I'm sticking to it, Mahalo and thank you,

Uncle Pauly
